Picked up a large rock, tossed by a gas truck. My local glass shops are telling me 2 weeks to get one for the 65 F-100. Any suggestions?
And just a safety tip, my windshield was in pretty good shape for it's age, just had a bit of clouding real low across the bottom, but it appears the gel between the 2 layers of glass died of old age, when the rock hit, the outside layer stayed intacked, but the inside layer spread sharp glass threwout the cab and all over me. It was lucky I had my Sunglasses on or it would have really sucked. I'm still pulling sharp glass splinters out of my beard.
Go to another glass shop, it should be a overnight item. Thing is you should get a new rubber gasket and that might take a few days. Dennis Carpenter makes the better rubber and it is available through his dealer network. Beware of non Carpenter rubber.
I have not heard of the laminate failing. I wonder if this is common with all old windshields? Could you examine the windshield after it is removed and see if the laminate has failed or possibly determine why the glass shattered all over the inside of the cab. Lucky you were wearing glasses!
There are two different windshield w/strips. If you have a Custom Cab, the w/strip has grooves for the windshield mouldings.

C1TB-8103110-B .. Windshield Weatherstrip ~ Use WITH W/Shield Mouldings
There is also THREE different windshields. As original there is clear and tinted. In addition, there is one now available with a "Sun Band" across the top.
NAGS number for windshield: W602 / Specify: Clear, Tinted, Sun Band
on the lamination, I don't have to pull it to see what happened. The outside layer of glass is intact, just spiderwebbed, the inside layer totally blew out about 3 inches in diameter and there is no sign of anything sticky. And the class splintered like it wasn't safety glass. Very fine splinters.
PS. I just ordered the rubber from Dennis Carpenter, and they had all my updated info that I just changed on Mac's site last night. Are they partners with Mac's?
