Problems fueling up

Hi I am having a problem with my 86 f-250 6.9

I have dual tanks and I am having an issue adding fuel to the front tank. Th pump keeps shutting off and I have to barely pump it to get gas in it, even then the neck fills up with foam/gas and I have to wait until it goes down until I can keep filling it up. It takes me 15 minutes to fill the thing up.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to what is causing this? I have no idea where to start looking.

I did a search and I am sure it is there but I am obviously not using the right search terms because I can't find anything on this.

Thanks!!

Keep searching...I believe it has something to do with the vent tube being stopped up/kinked.

Make sure the inner fuel tube is hooked up, mine fell off into the tank and that caused the fuel to backup with the air being displaced from the tank. its a PITA to get back on and yes it was the front tank also.

The fill tube coming loose was causing the same problem with mine. I didn't realize that when you fill the tank, the fuel is running into the tank through a small plastic hose that is inside the large fill pipe. There is a clip inside the metal fill pipe that holds the plastic pipe in place. This had also come loose on mine, causing it to be hard to fill. You have to take the pipe off to see what we are talking about.
