Diesel dont use a A/F ratio guage...Narrow band are junk they are just pretty lights for ricers....they bounce back and forth because the computer is changing the ratio several times a second. and they are only telling you rich, stoich, lean but give you no ratio numbers...you should get a Pyrometer guage kit.

Question

I just talked to Matt at Spartan and am ordering the SCT Xcal2 tuner.
I have been looking at the Quadzilla Commander for gauges. I like that it takes up less room but displays the needed parameters. Would this be a good choice or dial gauges in a pod? I know I want EGT, BOOST, Trans Temp for sure. Possibly Fuel pressure and coolant temp.

Any and all recommendations will be appreciated. I just un-installed an Edge Juice w/ Attitude. I liked That display.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!

If you liked the Edge Attitude display you may want to think about the MSD Dashhawk. It is the same form factor, uses the same mount pod, and gives you pretty much all the readings you are looking for. EGT is not available to the public yet but it should be within the next month or so (It rquires and add on product called the Hawkeye). Check out this thread for more info.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...e-display.html

Apparrently there is a little bit of an issue with the 03 trucks right now but it should be taken care of fairly easily, as they were working fine in the Beta but somehow got screwed up in the final release of software Version 2.2.

Thanks Beerstalker, I was considering the Dashhawk untill I heard it was not working well with Pre-05 6.0's. The Quadzilla will work now. I do not know if I should wait for MSD.

Question

Beerstalker,

Any updates on the Dashhawk? I am interested if it will work on a 2003 6.0 PSD.

Riggz is the only one I know of running it in a pre 05 (I think he has an 04). I just talked to him and he is having issues with the latest Version 2.2 release that came out last week I think. He has gone back to using one of the beta files that worked better on his truck. The guys at MSD are aware of the problem and hope to have it fixed in a minor patch next week I believe.

Thanks for the info Beerstalker.

I was on MSD's site and in the forums and found Riggz write-ups.

I will hold off for a bit to buy anything. I will wait and see if MSD can fix the issues.

With a little bit of homebrew engineering, you can use a single temp gage to monitor several parameters. I just finished hooking up my gages and have both differentials and the tranny set up to display on the tranny temp gage. This is a black faced Di Pricol "Optix" series full sweep gage with a 100-280*F range. I used a 2-pole, 6 position rotary switch from Radio Shack as my function selector switch. The inputs are landed on the first three positions of a six segment terminal strip. From there each one goes up to a terminal of the rotary switch, which in turn feeds the input of the temp gage. I have three more inputs open at this time, and am probably going to add coolant temp and possibly engine oil temp functions. That would still leave me with one open input. How important is fuel temp?

If I wanted to I could use the second pole to power indicator lights or LEDs so that there would be indication of which function was selected. I could also add in a SPDT switch and another terminal strip and have six more inputs to that same one gage, though I can't think of why I'd need to be able to look at twelve different parameters.

What type of sensors did you use on the diff's, and how did you mount them? Pictures of this entire setup would be great! I'm a visual learner, so post them pics! I'm intrigued.

I got my gages from ITP Diesel, and used the same probes for tranny and both differentials. The Mag-Hytec diff covers are already tapped 1/8-NPT for the probes. I will use the same ones for any other temp I am going to monitor. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to get my camera phone to email pics so I can post them...
