Any ideas on what I should buy/ build for a tool box. I wouldn't mind something that could be easily swapped from a 1969 Ford styleside, to my 1949 stepside and everything inbetween.
Wow, that would be a very heavy tool box at 124 & 157 lbs empty plus the weight of the tools. You would need a Bobcat or a front end loader to move it from truck to truck....
I would consider two smaller and more manageable ones if you are going to move your tools around between the trucks. You could always use an engine crane too but that could get old in a hurry.
personall I got trouble payin 4-500 dollars for a toll box to be put on a truck I paid 150 dollars for.
Good idea though, much appreciated but I'll probably end up going for the buy a sheet of 4x8 wood and some screws, or auction sale special, grinder and a can of paint.

a custom made diamond checkplate aluminum looks the best!! lightweight and you could bolt it to the bed...
Thats what i like to hear. Not to long ago i saw an ad for a polished stainless steel lockbox for a pickup. looked absolutely beautiful, and only $998.
Actually at the right auction sale you just may find a nice toolbox to put in there. I have seen them a couple times where they couldnt give them away.
Really? I have gone to some auctions that stuff has been sold for a few bucks, cause no one wanted it, and it wasnt even junky stuff. About a month and a half ago my dad went to an auction sale and they sold a slip tank with a electric pump for the back of a truck, for 100 bucks. Yeah I almost kicked his @ss for not getting it for me!
