I have recently purchased a set of Edelbrock 6006 aluminum heads for a ford fe. I had figured that Edelbrocks quote for chamber cc volume would be correct or pretty close. I had a range anywhere from 74.7 to 77.8 cc's on my heads. I called Edelbrocks tech line and they said they have a + or - 0f 2 cc's from the 72cc quote that is written in the specs. Well my point is here don't think you are getting what they are telling you. I had set up everything for 9.5:1 compression and now I have to take my heads in to get milled. Buyer Beware.
I had cc'd the heads myself. I think they are misleading me because any info you read on these heads states 72cc not 76 not 74 but 72cc. Now don't you think they are mis-leading the buyer? This is not my first time cc'ing anything so leave the lack of experience out. Edelbrock doesn't tell you that they have a plus or minus of 2cc's when you buy the heads. So lets put this into perspective. If you had the basic engine set-up for 9.59:1 compression with 72cc chambers and you switched to 74cc chambers you would now be at 9.41:1 compression. Now in my case I had it set-up for 9.5:1 with 73cc chambers but what I recieved were 75 to 77cc chambers. So that would equal a loss of half of a full point. Would you want to run the left and right bank out of balance as far as compression goes?
I hear what you say.... I have not heard any other chamber volume differences with them.
I do think that they would `error` on the big side in the event you have to surface the heads at a later time.
I`ll have to admit that no one that I race with has said that they lost/won a round at the drags because #5 cylinder is 2 `cc bigger/smaller than the rest.
Iam not sure that I would be concerned due to the fact that the `True` filling of the cylinder is not an exact science anyway.NOW if there is 5-10cc Between each cylinder >>> send them back!
