Has anyone installed a bed extender for their supercrew? I have a 2001 F-150 Supercrew and I bought the factory bed extender. The instructions are pretty much useless, and they show a picture of an anchor being screwed into each side of the bed. The hole they show it being screwed into is not threaded. Anyone know what I am supposed to do?
Since nobody ever replied to my question and I finally got help from my local dealership, I thought I would reply to let others know. The holes for installing the anchors for the bed extender are self tapping. You have to just force them in and they tighten up nicely. So far, so good.
Phil, I am glad I ran across your post. I just purchased a 2003 F-150 Super Crew 2 weeks ago. I took the vehicle back today to have a tonaue (sp) installed. While there I ordered a bed extender. I was wondering if it was an easy install that someone could do on their own. With self tapping install holes, it sounds like it. One question though. Did the kit come with the little plastic button inserts to trim up the pivot holes above the screw in install holes?
Sorry I cant answer your question but hopefully someone will show up soon that can.
If the kit doesnt come with the inserts I would ask the dealer what they have there. I know at our dealership we have quite a few little pushpins etc in stock.
