hello every one just got back from a 3 day 900 mile trip in the 79 crew ford. i fixed the AC (factory) but all my flex vent tubing is rotten and falling apart. where do i find replacements?
another thing can these trucks be made to have hardly any wind noise? has anybody had any luck. if so i would consider buying all new weather stripping. i replaced the 2 front doors (outer perimiter, no window or vent stuff yet) but cruising down the interstate with the AC on i cant even hear the radio. i would so like to have it like my superduty LOL. i plan to install insulation on the floors, doors, firewall, back wall. who makes a good quality carpet for the crew?
if any body has any enlightenment on the above subjects please give me your opinions on all or some . thanks in advance D.J.
been looking at npd they dont list anything for the crew cab for weather stripping for the rear? do i use front door stuff and cut down if longer? and for the flexible under dash vent parts there are no part # listed (just shown in the diagrams of how the ac heater box go together)?? thanks D.J.
All the weather stripping and seals from the front doors will fit the rear doors. (window track felt, anti-rattle kit, door weather stripping) all the same. Most of the wind noise in my truck has been through the vent "wing" windows. Replacing the seals will probably cut down on that a lot. You can make these trucks very quiet by installing sound dampening material everywhere (in doors, on floor, fire-wall, roof) like dynamat or something and replace all worn-out seals in doors and windows. The heat/a.c. ducts under the dash are the same as a regular cab with factory a.c. so a junkyard hunt might be in order.
ok i will be ordering the door seals this week then. does anybody know of a place that sells the flexible ac tubing that conects the duct to the dash vents (they are flexible plastic with wire in them)
