This question is for a friend of mine that just purchased a 96 F250 with the 7.3L. The truck starts fine but will intermittently die, sometimes it will be at idle, other times as it's going down the road. It restarts just fine and will go for a couple of days and then it will do the same thing. I was wondering if you all had any ideas. To add to the twist and I personally think these are two separate issues he has a brake controller on the truck and when he engages it to activate the trailer brakes it kills the truck. I figured if anyone would know it would be you all so please help me out. Thanks.
Ok well, its sounds like your friend has a bad CPS and as for the brake controller issue, was it wired in or did you guys use the factory harness and port? If its hard wired in, you need to check the wiring over again for a ground out issue. Post what you find. Good luck!
I vote its just needs a CPS. I have heard a number of CPS issue that are random and when the trailer brakes are used. Replace the CPS with the one that Neal linked then see where you stand.
