Ive got about 95k on my 01 and the transmission is giving me problems. I was cruiseing along and it decided to randomly shift to second gear, and now it wont shift from second to third. Put a scanner on it and it pulled a code showing a problem with shifting from 2 to 3. I had it towed to the dealer a few hours ago, but dont think i want them ****ing with it. Does this sound like a bad transmission or something electrical. BTW, I did a filter change about a year ago (40k miles ago) and checked the fluid when I started having problems and it is fine.
If the tranny is bad what is my best course of action? New, rebuilt? I was kinda thinking rebuild it and get better parts put in it, but that brings up another question. What internal parts should I upgrade or replace with aftermarket to make the transmission more durable. Also, I know bully dog makes a shift kit that is suppose to improve the trans all around, is this worth it, and is it something that can be put on during a rebuild?
I just ordered a 4R100 from here. This guy builds the best trannies around.
He gives you a 2 year guaranty and dares you to break it.
Might be a little more then you want to spend but you can see on the site some of the upgraded parts you might need. http://www.brianstruckshop.com/index.html
My 01 just had 2nd gear go out. The local guy here is going to rebuild it for me costing $2200. There is only 123k miles on it. He said a Jasper would cost me approx $2800 plus $600 core chg. He is going to put in heavier gears. I hope this helps some.
