ok i have a 2000 f250 SD with a D60 axle in the front. how many splines do i have. i count 30 in the shaft. is this right? i was thinking there were only 33 or 35. i need help so i can order my new one
2000 still has a dana 50, with 30 spline shafts at the carrier. IIRC you have a 8.5 inch ring gear, 26 spline, 1.376" pinion, and 30 spline 1.31" axle shafts (were it necks down into the carrier) VS a dana 60, which started around 2002 in the front of super duties, which has a 9.75" ring gear and i think 35 spline 1.5" shafts, the whole length, and a 1.625" pinion shaft. Im pretty certain this is all accurate, someone may be able to chime if they know otherwise.
the cover number says its a dana 60 but you may be right. but i cant find a dana 50 30 spline axle. i can find a 30 spline f350 with the right length. i just don't want to drop money for the wrong part just to send it back and ford wants 745$ for one of theres and 350$ for just 1 hub lock
What exact shaft are you trying to get? I have a good ford dealer here that works with me, ill see what kinda pricing i can get for you. You need the one that goes out to the hub (stub axle) or the one that goes to the differential? (inner axle shaft), and if so what side? IIRC your driver side stub axle? BTW the 30 spline count, which makes the difference between the 60 and 50 is were it goes into the differential. I dont remember what the stub axle spline count is, if thats what your counting
the stub shaft on the drivers side. and if you could i need all the parts from the axle seal to the locker. the only parts that were good were the hub and the steering knuckle. the inner shaft is still good also
The ford dealer will most likely not be able to beat 130 for a stub shaft but i can check for you, the stub shaft is not specific between the 60, and 50. From the knuckles out, the 60, and 50 are the same in the superduties. So more then likely your best bet is to get everything off that site, and check your dealer for the bearing. Ill check mine too, IIRC they were less then 450 a side.
