2002 Explorer Flushing Coolant (general question)

I am getting ready to have my coolant system serviced. I am not having any problems but it has been a few years since it was done and the coolant has a brownish color to it. My question is should I go ahead and have the thermostat replaced while they are doing the flush? This is more a preventative service work than any kind of problem.
The vehicle has 83K on it, should I do any other service work to it as long as it's in the shop (i.e. gas filter) never been rep[laced.

thermostat should be o.k.--- you should change the antifreeze, fuel filter, and consisder a transmission filter and oil change. i dont recommend the flush, just change the filter and oil.
