I took this photo while I was out and about and I would like to identify what the year and model is. From looking at the gallery photos I think it might be a 1949 F1. Can anyone confirm this or if it's not that tell me what it is? Thanks!
I would guess that it's a 48 or an early 49 judging by the crankhole still in the grille. It looks like it's an F1 with a Studebaker bed on the back.Ilya
You know your trucks, Sir. That is a Studebaker pickup bed. The same bed was used 1949/1961.

Funny you should say it has a Studebaker bed. The man who owns the land where this pick up is located, his name is Studebaker.
So the year still can't be pinned down? I'll have to try and go back and see if I can find any more info on the actual pick up. Do trucks this old have VINs and if they do where would it be located?
There should also be a VIN tag riveted in the upper right hand corner of the firewall (passenger side) in the engine compartment. If both are missing or unreadable, then you'd have to look for the VIN stamped into either the left or right frame rails ahead of the front suspension. You'll likely need a wire brush to get rid of the dirt and surface rust on the rails.
If the first number is an 8, then it's a 48. If it's a 9, then it could either be a 49 or a 50. Only the production sequence number (the last five digits of the VIN) can hint to its year. I believe that if it's above 20,000 or 25,000, then it's a 50.
