aod problems

my aod shifts hard into almost every gear and slams into reverse why would it do that in every gear and sometimes it shifts like a dream and it doesnt shift out of overdrive when slowing down untill your barly moving and shifs hard when it does unless i do it manually.

ok sorry 1987 ford f150 it has a 5.0 with 160,000 miles on it

In order for folks to help you we would need to know which transmission you have? Has the transmission been serviced lately? It could be as simple as a dirty filter and fluid? If it' an AOD then it could be that the TV cable is out if adjustment? The cable can stretch over time. Need to establish a base line on what is ok and not. Hope this helps. Good luck!

i did mention it was an aod but not very clearly i dont post much i like to read all the other threads but to answer you ?'s the fluid was recently changed and i dont know about the filter or tv adjustment but maybe ill get er into the shop cus im afriad its not looking good and one more thing when i put it into reverse it sometimes shifts hard other times pretty smooth it does this when it is idling above a 1000 rpms than it is smooth could it be the TPS im just guessing from other things ive read here

ok i figured somthing else out it shifts hard when u lef off the gas right before it shifts this is mostly in town though and going into od on the highway if that helps
