well i want the clean look an am going to remove the 3 f250 badges from my truck...but i also want to do something about the ford emblem on the tailgate...its recessed into the tailgate so what is the easiest way to eliminate this and have it look the best?
yeah i know that but i dont know anything about body work...do i just use filler and let it dry , sand and paint?...my g/f's dad will be doing the paint, and hes actually pretty good but i dont fully trust his decisions on somethings and im not really confident in some things he does if you know what i mean...i just want to make sure he does it right
The badges are easily removed, and the paint under is still good. For emblems with double sided tape holding them on, I use a string and WD40 to cut through the adhesive. Stuff comes right off, and the WD washes off with a mild soap and water. Almost can't tell anything was ever there.
For the rear emblem, the right thing to do is weld in another priece of material to eliminate the recess. If you just apply filler to such a large area, it will just pop off over a little time. The stuff will just crack and eventually come off, maybe in one whole piece. If it worth doing, it is worth doing right.
