I have a 95 XLT that has drowned!! was under water for about a day and a half. I have the interiro stripped out, plugs pulled, fluids changed gas checked etc. Well since I got the most important stuff taken car of was messing with the windows/locks and nothing, This is one situation that I wished it had do it yourself windows.
I still have to preasure wash everything but am gettin there.
Water was up to about the headrest.
Most people would consider it a complete losss, but I think I am up to the challenge,
Anyway Windows dont work, Switch or motor?
Radio is shot, might still have water in it.
The lights work,
horn works,
Power locks dont work, Motor or switch?
Fuel pump was working when it was parked, its not now, I have power to the 4 prong connector for the guage and pump, but no gas is getting pumped, Anyone know a trick or just buy a new one?
BTW I purchased it as a drowned truck, thinking worse case I have a parts truck, but short of the fuel pump I think this truck will run. Worst case will have a pretty good lookin parts truck
Any tricks/ tips for the electrical systems? I have purchased some cans of QD Electrical cleaner stuff, and some stuff that cleans componants,
The truck will turn over and would prolly start if I had a fuel pump, It turns over, has spark on the plugs so I think once I get some fuel pumpin it will run. might not run well but it should at least run a bit.
With the plugs out I used the starter to turn the engine over a bit to get some fresh oil dist through the motor,
only things I have found that dont work is windows, locks, radio, fuel pump. I am sure when its started the real gremlins will appear

Try given it a squirt of startin fluid, just to see if it will run. Try disconnecting the plug on the fuel pump, and spray it down real good with WD-40, heck disconnect every plug you see, and spray it with WD 40. You just might get lucky.
Was it sunk in fresh water or salt? If it was fresh water, you are going to be just fine. Mine sat completely underwater for 12 hours. 2 days later I had it on the road and once the radio completely dried out-it even worked also.
Freshwater, was sitting when the water hit it not running which was a plus. BTW picked up some Electrical QD thingy cleaner and have been using it. If I have gotten near something that had a quick disconect have popped it and sprayed.
Sounds like you are on the right track. The worse part about mine was having to sit on a garbage bag for about a week to keep from getting a wet but for the week that it took for the seat to dry out completely.
Tried the starter fluid trick, it actually kicks off and runs a sec. just need some gas now. Gonna spend the next couple of days presure washing everything and cleaning all the electrical system.
Have you tested to see if there is even any power coming to the pump? If I'm not mistaken, you only have one pump in the tank (which also probably got water in it), so it is probably in your best intrest to drop the tank and clean the rust/dirt in it. If there isn't any power coming to the pump and you fix it, be sure to test the pump (turn key on and let pump run for a few seconds) before you stick it back in the tank.
the tank has been on the ground the whole time, I have power at the QD for the pump, but when hooked up and key on nothing pumps, BTW no water in the tank, I sloshed it around with the pump out to see if I needed to drain it.

Is the ground still connected to the tank with the tank laying on the ground under the truck?
