Ok so on my past Ford's, to find out what gears I had out back, I just found the axel code table for the vehicle and matched it to the markings on my door.
I just got my 2000 250 PSD and the lettering under "Axel" on the driver's door is "UTC" I found the axel chart on this forum but this code does not match any on there! Am I looking at the wrong plate or the wrong number?, should I pull the number off the tag on the rear?
Thanks in advance, I am sure this is a dumb question.
There should be a tag on the cover off one of its bolts that will tell you right away.
I think the 2000 trucks had a dana 50 solid front axle and a sterling 10.5 in the back. They updated the front in 05 I think to a dana 60

Thanks, I see I posted in the wrong year, briliant.
Also, how to I find out what gear ratio and LSD/non-LSD?

The aforementioned axle tag will have axle 10.5 Gear ratio, 3 55, and the limited slip designation betwen the numbers of the axle ratio, (above would be open diff, 3 L55 would be a limited slip diff. The axle code on the door sticker is what you'd use for the service manuals. Chilton's break them out by the door code.
Whats posted above is incorrect for your year of pickup. Your truck will have 3.73's and most likely a LSD, unless the previous ownere(s) had the gearing or diffrentials changed from factory specs.
all 99 and ups in srw form had 3.73's stock, in 99 you could order 4.10's or even 4.30's, in 00 the 4.10's were special order, 01 and up is only 3.73's, most drw's came with 4.10's but 3.73's were optional, the rear diff is a 10.5 the ft i am pretty sure is a dana 60, and the duallys i'm pretty sure were dana 80's
