On my 65 ford that I am converting to disc brakes, I got the pedal assembly and booster bracket off of my donor truck which is a 73 f-100, I was wondering what is the best way to go of installing it. My 65 has a rod, I thought the rod and master cylinder that I took off was all made together, which was a single master cylinder. Will I have to shorten the rod? or what. also the pressure switch that came off the old master cylinder, where will I have to mount it?
A note of interest , this was my dad's truck and I think he use to have a booster on the master cylinder. I don't know, if he already done something to the rod or not. Thanks for the help. This if a good website if your doing something like we all have done in the past. Thanks.
Suggest run a search in 61-66 forum, topic has come up on number of occasions. Couple options, believe majority recommend repositioning the pedal assembly and drill another hole. Also recommend using electrical stop switch. Before coming across FTE and not knowing any better, I took 1/2" alum square stop and cut them approx. 2 1/2" and used them as spacers between the booster bracket and firewall. Being alum, drilling the 2 holes in each piece for the booster mounting bolts is lot easier. Also used original pressure switch by tapping an adapter and mounting it on the master cylinder. This was approx. 7-8 yrs ago and has worked fine. Read threads where member rec. going elect. because of safety issues. The donor pedal assembly may already be set up for the electrical stop switch. Not sure if came across the following site another member posted quite some time ago, believe discusses the stop switch.
