i have started towing a 5,500lb trailer it's an aluminum dual axle flat deck, with a boxing ring on it in pieces.
is there any conceren with the independent rear suspension? or axle setup on this truck. I have a 03 XLT FX4. It has 3.73 LS rear end with a 4R70w trans.
This a temporary tow vehicle till we get the retired bread truck on the road to haul it.
No worries, i have an 03 with 3.73 limited slip 5.4 and pull a toy hauler that weighs 5000 dry, then i add all my gear and kids stuff probably around 7000lbs. But i do use a weight distrabution hitch setup and the tounge weight is only 450lbs that kinda why i picked this pirtucular trailer because these vehicles will sag in the back. Sagging in the back is pretty much normal becuase of the soft suspension and soft ride in back. I pull just great up long hills could be better but im happy cus its stock no mods.
Power isn't an issue. we pulled the same trailer with my friends 03 f150 stx. 4.6 5 spd and it is a dog. they expy would pull the trailer and his truck no problems. And mines stock asweel. I really bought to pull a boat thet i plan to get so it should be a breeze compared to this trailer.
You won't have any problems, the truck is rated to tow more than the 5500 lbs your towing. I believe my 03 EB 4x4 is rated at 8950 lbs with I believe 500 tongue.
