Tire question inside??
Hey everyone, i just picked up my X and am curious about some tires. Ive been doing some reading and seems 10ply or "E" rated tires are about the only options for our massive vehicles. Question is has anyone ever ran any other type of tire and were there any negative effects.
The reason i ask is i have an almost brand new set of 22" (305/45/22 max load 2910lb)tires of off my Tahoe that i traded in on the X and hate to waste them.
I occasionally pull my Mustang to the track but for the most part it wont see any towing.

Those tires have around 500lb.s LESS capacity that the E rated tires. Even though they will support the gross weight (GVWR 8900-9200lbs), you have to accept some risk in using them. If you aren't loading up too heavy then I wouldn't see a problem using them.
