wiper problem

Sounds like it is time to replace the mulifunction switch. (turn signal stalk and associated switches)
You might try putting the stalk in the high beam position, sometimes that works until you can replace the part....otherwise pull the fuse.

I forgot to ad that this is a for a 2005 f250 with 74000 miles. I pulled the stalk and the connections looked fine. i tapped the wiper motor and it stopped for a while. I replaced the wiper motor thinking there's a short inside of it and it started again a couple weeks later.

I have to admit that I was going to agree with redford on replacing the switch until you mentioned tapping the motor.
I've had to replace the motor on my F150 but she's a 92 model with 214K miles on her.
You've checked all your wiring including the ground and it all looks good?
My guess is it's time for a motor.
