I have a 94 F-150. The dash squeeks or chirps all the time. It's the glove box front edge rubbing up against a black box in front of it. I am assuming that box is part of the HVAC, but didn't study the connectivity as I was about to go to work and put the thing back together before leaving the house. I think the dash has sagged with age. And now the glove box leaning against this processor is helping to support the right side of the dash. I have owned this truck since new, and it has had to work every week of it's life. Plus it is an outdoor dog, never having lived in a garage.
I am sure others have had this problem. What did you do to resolve or stop the sqeek?
It sounds like you have the same problem a lot of f150/bronco owners of this era have. The poorly designed plastic dash mount under the passenger side breaks. This causes the exact symptoms you describe. Search these forums and there are plenty of threads on how to go about repairing.
there is a kit from ford that basically using a small angle grinder or die grinder or dremel you smooth out the break and rivet a piece of steel angle iron in, in place of the plastic bracket its been about 5 years since i have fixed one.
Been there done that on my '90. With the glove box out look to your right inside the dash, see what you got. Moving the dash up and down I was able to see the metal support frame move with the dash. I carefully drilled two holes through the metal support and into the side of the cab (where the door hinge bolts through) Two 3/4" self tapping screws and it was locked in, no more movement when I went over a bump or rut.
I also used JB weld 5 min putty stick to "rebuild" other areas that had failed. Under the radio, underside of dash, etc... One of my goals during my rebirthing of my baby was to get rid of all the gremlins in the cab. Between securing/repairing the dash and the Dynamat inside the doors she has quieted down to a whisper.

I was thinking about doing the dynamat project thing for my PU. I was going to do carpet (it has the vynl mat now, it's an XL), reupholster the seat, install a AM/FM/CD/MP3/USB stereo as an upgrade from the AM/FM/cassette, and get rid of these gremlins also. So where did you get your dynamat?

Theres a gent on Ebay that sells 3 sheets of the Dynamat Extreme for just under $50 including shipping. These are bulk sheets, not retail packaged. The Dynamat site has instructions and details if you need them. The sheets measure 18" x 32" which is perfect for doing two doors with a little left over. The Dynamat Extreme is self adhesive so you dont have to mess with heating it up or rolling it out. His ebay store is under the name Mason_Paul, His email is mason_paul@yahoo.com.
We had a problem with my first delivery. The contents got ripped off, but fedex was nice enough to deliver the empty box. I contacted Paul and he had a replacement order on my porch in 4 days. Great service, great product, great price.
FYI I bought the Pioneer P4900ib head unit from Crutchfield.com for $169, it has all your looking for in features. It fit in the truck great with only a little filing on the dash trim. They send you wiring harness, adaptors, and great instructions for the install. Also have tech support that actually know what there doing if ya need it. If ya spend over $200 you can get $20 off by entering code: p2wqw-pby51-q28a6<!-- mp_trans_disable_end -->) I was going to buy the headunit off of Ebay to try to save a couple of bucks, Im glad I didnt cause the little extras Crutchfield send make the install a snap, and of course the warrenty and support.

if your looking to dynamat the whole cab you can buy something called peel and stick, or peel and seal. Its basically the same thing but you can get a 3'x50'or100' roll (dont remember how long it is but there's a lot.) for about 100 bucks. Its at home depot or lowes. It also has the shiny foil backing on it.

Not so concerned with the truck road noise as my wife's car. But I was considering an upgrading of the stereo, the upholstery and what not. So, why not add some sound deadening? Might as well if I have it torn apart right? Thanks for the info guys. I printed it out so as to not loose the information. I'm about to start parts hunting soon!

How thick would you say the peel and seal is? I saw something at the depot not by that name thats was thin stuff. The dynamat extreme is just shy of 1/8" nearest I can tell. I definitly like the price of the peel and seal stuff if it works.

1/8 of an inch sounds about right. This stuff is thick and very durable, and you can stretch it to help conform it to different contours. I think im going to home depot tomorrow so ill see what the actual name and price is.
