The 305's I tried once didn't fit my crew cab, they rubbed during turning. I usually order BFG 295 AT's from TireRack and then bring them and the wheels in for mounting/balancing then I bring em home and put them on the truck myself. It keeps the monkey at the shop from going crazy with the impact gun and tweaking the rotors.
On stock wheels you should be able to fit 305/70 16, unless you have factory mud flaps or any other flaps that stick in. With wider wheels it would more then likely rub. I run 285/75 16 on stock steel wheels, with ford flaps, with no rubbing issues ever.

Fat, out of curiosity, was that on stock wheels or aftermarket?
I ran 305/70/16 BFG AT KO's on my stock lariat rims. They will wear more quickly since there is a lot of tension pulling on the sidewalls. The stock 7" wheels are a bit to narrow for a tire that wide. Also they load capacity was only 2910lbs if I remember right. When it was time to replace them, BFG had discontinued the tire because of poor overall performance and was redesigning that size. It is now back on the market in that size
I went with the 295/75/16 this set and they handle better and drive better all around when mounted on the stock rims. They just don't look as good because they are narrower, but they have a load capacity of 3415 lbs. That's an extra 2020 lbs. per set. Also the 295's are wear a lot better than the 305's.
Just thought I'd share my experience on the two sizes. All I buy are AT BFG's as they work perfect for my application. I will buy the 295's again when the time for new ones.
I run 295/75/16 stock hight and I rub when I am in compression and turning you can see that it is rubbing on the springs. will be putting a leveling kit on next payday so I can fit 305,s
I wonder what makes the difference. According to tire rack, i compared my 285/75 16 dueler at revo vs the 295/75 16 bfg, and the difference is .2 inches in diameter, and 4 lbs of tire weight. Weight rating on the dueler is 3305, bfg is 3415. Both have same tread depth, section width etc. Just .2 inches of diameter.
