i have a 360 in my 72 highboy. I've been having problems with it, so while i'm in the process of fixing it i would like to know what kind of mods or upgrades i can do to it.
also, what does it take to turn a 360 into a 390?
thanks ...Russ

To make a 360 a 390 you need 390 crank and rods. As far as aftermarket parts and upgrades, FE components are still plentiful. With the ever increasing success of aftermarket 427 cobra's the FE heartbeat is still pumping so parts are available. However, the demand in not there like for a small block Chevy so parts are much more expensive. You just have to decide what your budget is and what your end result for Use/Power is going to be to decide the best way to proceed. Good Luck!

edelbrock performer: 4 barrel 600cfm carb, intake manifold, camshaft
and a electronic dui distributor is on the way from www.performancedistributors.com
well theyre not as loud as i thought they would be but theyre cherry bombs so i guess everyone says after you break em in for a couple thousand miles they sound better

Actually, they get louder with use. They are the most quiet when they are new!
yeah thats what i meant.
you should definitely get a 4 barrel high performance carb though, when you hit 3/4 throttle and the secondaries open up its great.
those stock motorcraft ones are garbage, mine would bog around turns n whatnot.
i'm excited about this new ignition system because i'll be able to ignite all that fuel.
a buddy of mine swapped out the ignition on his mustang and it was night and day difference.
i just finished my 390, basically all new. it has the petronix upgrade. bored .030 over, edelbrock cam (484 lift) thats all remember for the cam. edelbrock intake and a neighbor gave me his used edelbrock 700cfm carb with a 1" spacer. rebuilt it myself. flowtech headers with 40 series flowmaster. which im changing to power sticks mufflers will be run in 2.5" exhaust. neighbor said it sounds alot better than it used to. now i should be setting off car alarms in parking lots, he-he-he
