Wow!
You know that is great. But most people don't own their cars & trucks for over a few years. The way they wear out is most need a new widget that's in the newer ones. If anyone has dealt with modern day warranty issues you know they can be a worse problem than the problem itself. If you have too many issues they first thing most do is get rid of it.
So I don't think I want to go buy a new Dodge Product. From my own experience I owned a 2002 Dakota 4x4 and it was the worse truck I have ever owned. My wife's 88 Dodge truck with a 113,000 miles gives me 5% of the trouble that new 02 did when it was new. That truck liked the dealership so much I sold it back to them.

I had a 2001 Jeep Wrangler 60th Aniversery Edition. That thing was the biggest POS I ever had. It was the only time that I strayed from Ford. After taking it to the dealership numberous time they told me that they wouldn't do anymore because I didn't buy it there. Bought the Jeep in KY but moved soon after to MO. I said fine and left it there in their parking lot and walked up the street to Dick Smith Ford and told them where my trade in was and they went and got it and about an hour later I was leaving with my new 03 Ranger. I will never buy another another Chrysler again.

It might be a good time to read the fine print. We have dealers nearby that promises free tires for life on new cars. However, the required tire rotation, balancing, alignments, etc. that is required and must be done by the dealership costs more than simply replacing the tires when they are worn out.
The problems with Chryslers aren't with the engine, or even too much with the transmissions anymore- they are the cheap plastic interiors with massive squeak and rattle problems, poor ride quality, Cummins engines walking out of the frame, and electronics.
The ONLY reason this so-called lifetime warranty is being offered is to get rid of over 100,000 unsold Rams, tens of thousands of unsold Jeep Commanders, 1000's of other unsold Chrysler and Dodge vehicles. Once gone, so will be the "lifetime" warranty offer. Prices aren't going up, in fact, you can buy a top of the line Ram "semi" Hemi Quad Cab right now...nationwide for 12 grand off sticker with no restrictions. Ads like this have run for over a year.

NumberDummy is probably right, this will fade away with time. Probably right around the time that they realize that they are losing big money replacing all of those trannies out of their own pocket instead of the customers
