PI heads

How come not all the heads produced after 99' dont have PI on them.. I thought that both the 4.6l and 5.4l had PI heads after 99' .... I have seen several trucks latley in the bone yard that dont have PI cast into them and I know for a fact that they are 2000 or newer...

My 02' 5.4l that i swaped did have PI on it though... just somthing i noticed..

5.4L went to PI in '99, 4.6L's on the other hand did not at the beginning of the year from everything I have seen and read, some people even claim to have '00 4.6L's that are NPI. Now in Crown Vic's 4.6L's didn't go to PI heads until '01, Stangs switched in '99. Trucks seem to be varying on when exactly the 4.6L's switched over. I have never heard or seen a definite build date on the 4.6L's in trucks.

Could have been some leftover heads or maybe some one thought that there 4.6L was too powerful and put non-PI heads on to drop the power down to about 150hp with 7.5 to 1 compression

I haven't really seen too many in the bone yards to tell. Seems most that I saw at one yard were all V6 XL trucks. I would think any of them 2001-up would be PI, but ya never know.

Thats what i was thinking... but i dunno... the bone yard is my cousins parts trucks for his builders...i think he has completed 80+ trucks of our style and resold them...hes got 7-8 whats left of full trucks laying around... and thousands of parts in boxes and barns....really convienent... thats where i get all my upgrades at including my motor.. im going to convert my interior to grey next summer i think.. from the tan...

Does he have a am/fm/cd/cassette deck out of one? if so, PM me please. I don't want a changer, just the dual media deck.

I thought it was only in 03 that they made all trucks with PI heads and the 8 threads.
