Smart move Nassty, but some poor sod that cant afford a new one will get suckerpunched when he tries to tune it up. This issue should be taken care of by Ford. There is no reason these trucks shouldnt last 200k or more with proper maintenance. Its no wonder Ford has been losing customers. Who would knowingly set themselves up for this headache?

Reason: misspelling
Even though i did purchase the tool from ROTUNDA and a borescope i really didn't want to push the remanders of the plugs down anyfurther.... After i got the truck back from from FORD they said they removed all the remaining pieces out of all the cylinders, and hand cranked the motor 3 times and boarscoped all cylinders..... Well when i got it home of the flatbed i took the borescope and guess what guysssss 3 cylinders had **** still in them. At this point i want to strangle the engineers at ford....... Guys if we want to get anywhere with this problem we all have to complain and do something about it. Otherwise Ford will blow this issue off. If it wasn't for the Whipple SC I would just put back all the stock **** in the truck and sell ittttttttttttt..... Oh I did get the AUTOLITE HT0's but they were a nitemare to get and $128 for 8. I called FORD RACING and they said they do not use AUTOLITE to make there 0 degree plugs only motorcraft.
This type of crap is why I bought my wife a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I honestly dont know what my next truck will be, but I can assure you it wont be a Ford with a 5.4L. I cant pull my boat or car trailer with the smaller engines, so I am left with Toyota, Dodge of Chevy as options. Maybe my 2000 will last long enough to see the 5.4 go the way of the DoDo bird.

Is this problem still on the newer trucks 2006-2007 or is it just on the older ones 2005 and before. I realize that 2005 isn't old just a way of asking the question.
2004 to present has the same plugssssssssssssssssss if you get a new f 105 pull the plugs and lube the shhit out of the ground jacket and threads with never seize

I read on another forum that the spark plugs on the 06-07s had anti sieze on them from the factory. That's why the spark plug TSB only applies to 04-05s.I dunno,I read it on the internet so it must be true?
My 2004 F-150 with 102,000 miles is sitting at the local Ford dealership right now with a $2,000 repair bill for pulling both heads. They said all 8 plugs broke
off. I cannot believe they followed the service bulletin. What is the best course of action? I need my truck! I can't afford $2,000 spark plug changes!
The mechanic clearly didn't follow the TSB and it was probably because he didn't want to wait or he didn't read it. If he broke one, how could he be so stupid as to break all 8. He wanted to break flat rate and make more money (or he wanted to make more money by pulling the heads).
Well, tomorrow I finish where I left off with the Whipple..... hopefully all goes well..... out of everything the plugs still scare the **** out of me..... I swear now I'm going to check them every 5 thousand miles even though I have the 0 degree plugs..... I just don't trust that design until that metal ground jacket gets welded to the plug instead of pressure crimped.
I don't know if this helps much, but I was talking with my Dad about the spark plug issue with the 5.4 and he said that back in the day AKA his time AKA black and white tv; a lot of European autos had the same issue so many mechanics would brush iodine on the threads before installing them and it apparently fixed the problem. I have a 4.6 just because of reading this forum and reading all the disaster stories. It is powerful enough for what I need. Anyway it's my 2¢ worth.
Just got off the phone with Melinda, a cusomter relations person.
Spark plugs are not covered under my ESP. (I knew that) So the labor for removal is not covered, given that I asked for them to be changed, and my service guy advised against it. What kind of horespucky is this?
(She also said because no parts in the trans, or AC system were replaced-nothing was broken, therefore nothing was wrong. Hello, AC not blowing cold, I don't care what they did, but it works now. )
So I asked her what else she was going to do, she said "nothing, this case is resolved." My spotted owl!
So I managed to get the Consumer Affairs address out of her, after she refused to give me the engineering dept, (which she was going to contact with my problem)
any other suggestions? I'm real good at writing letters, I just need names and addresses, where is Bill Ford??
