I was just wondering if anyone has traction bars on their trucks, and what Brand. I'm thinking on getting a pair since placing the 37" BFG KO's on. What experences do you have with/without them on. Also what installation issues did you have. (what $$$ did you pay)
Also let me know what size lift you have and tire size.
The Fabtech's are highly recomended, as indicated above, I have a 2 wd so I fabbed my own using 1" bar and radius rod ens, welded to the housing and frame, They have to be stout, as I bent my first set and had to fab another, more sturdier set. Of course my diff was jumping around pretty good trying to get down the 1/4 mile.
The fabtech are quite stury and look good as well.
Are you racing yours, 4x4, or just want something that looks good?
DAVE, what 4x4 lift companies are making them? I would say chck out DR or just get the FABTECH, I think you have a SKYJACKER lift kit, do they make ladder bars?
DR makes them so does RIze Ind. but they are for 05+. i have contacted rize about theirs and they told me some people have made them fit for 99-04 but they are $9**. fabtech is about $650 or so from trucktoyz and are the best for 99-04. you want a free floating traction bar not a fixed one like procomp.
We have seen a few Fabtech traction bars bend or crack. If you want something heavy duty I would recommend the OUO (One Up Offroad) traction bars. These are available with Traction Blocks or bolt on mounts. They are also available with either bent or straight bars. Here are a couple of examples:
Marty, quick question- the Fabtech bars clamp over the axle tube, and a top and bottom mount off of the bracket, correct...? to prevent any axle twisting... And there is a shackle at the front, to allow for free suspension movement... does the bars you posted about have anything like that for the smooth ride? price?

The Fabtech bars are a floating ladder bar type which utilize two mounting points per side on the axle and shackles up at the chassis. The Rize traction bars also utilize this design (though heavier duty). The OUO bars utilize urethane bushings to address spring deflection. These bars can also be tuned by adjusting their length upon installation depending on the curvature of the springs. This combination allows for smooth long travel operation. Pricing for the OUO bars with bolt on mounts is comparable to the Rize bars. OUO Traction Block kits are higher but still far less expensive than replacement springs plus bolt-on traction bars. These also have the added benefit of allowing for the use of lower rate OE springs verses arched high rate aftermarket springs.
