Had a loud grinding sound comming from what sounded like the tranny area. Needed a new tranny badly. Put in a built tranny and torque converter from ATS and thought that might take care of it.
It did not!! It is probably 4 times worse now!!! It will not do it around town. Happens when i have at least a light load and am pushing it and after going up fairly steep grades. When i let off the throttle, it has a extremely loud pulsing sort of grinding sound. Gets worse the farther I turn to the right.
Please, any thoughts our help is extremely appreciated!!!
I do have a 3 inch down pipe. This was a thought that went through my mind but why would it make the grinding sound so much more now. Is there any way to make more room for the down pipe?
The hubs are both unlocked. Good thought though that was one of the first things I checked.
when the tranny was done the DP very easy could have been knocked around or even removed then reinstalled in a poor position. they come very very close to the tranny.
I just noticed that when I step on the brakes it gets worse as well so maybe the torque of putting on the brakes pushes the pipe against the firewall??
The u-joint "seem" to be ok. I dont feel any play in them. Not sure about the transfer case.
