i was wondering if i built my engine and put assembly lube and everything in the motor, how long can it sit before it has to be run. cuz i have a 460 sittin in the garage, and its been there for about 2 years now, and i have all the parts, and i really am itchin to build it, but i dont have anything to put it in now and no test stand(i may build one later towards summer). and i was also wondering about crate motors from svt. my friend bought a 302 form them and we were wondering if the engines are test fired, and what needs to be done to break them in. sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help.
I do not know the life span of the assembly lube,
but I had my 460 sitting outside in the winter time (covered with plastic) lubed-up, until the weather broke. Springtime.
Installed the engine, fired it up, broke cam in, no problems with galling.
As far as the SVT crate motor goes, I don't know if they break in the cam first or not, never brought one. Have always rebuilt from scratch.
