More starting issues
Same song, different verse....
My 240 1Bbl is still giving me fits. Now, it won't turn off when I turn the key off. The gauges will die, but not the motor. I have to remove the cable from the battery to get it to die. Then it might or might not start up again and act right for a while.
It makes The same clicking noise.
I have cleaned all the cable and wire conections and thought I had it taken care of till today.
I have replaced the solenoid and my ignition switch in the last week.
Any suggestions?
It's great to have a site like this to glean from.

Whodathunk a 6 would be so much trouble.....
The solenoid supports ign 2 way. Isolates it for start up & routes thru ignition switch for run.
IOW, when you turn key to "start" position only the solenoid has power and it supplies the coil. When you release key, & it returns to "engine run" position, then everything has power. If you mix up solenoid to coil wire that is charged in start, it stays charged and engine will not shut down.
To check for condition with engine running, pull small wire off two screw like terminals on your solenoid one at a time. If engine stops, then mis-wiring is your problem. If not and you have all the other wires correctly on 2 larger terminals, you may have a faulty or miswired Ign Switch.
