Did you by the whole Kit or just the cat back? I was thinking about going with them and just getting the catback and having the local muffler shop run the pipes back
I had my local muffler shop install a flowmaster w/ the pipes exiting straight out the rear. They sound great under acceleration and are not to loud at idle, nice and mellow.
I just bought the cat back. One of these days I would like to get the Headers as well. I found the Magnaflow kit on Ebay from Citymufflers. He had 10 and says to make an offer. He has free shipping too. I went with 450 but you might be able to get it cheaper.
my dad has tru duals after the cats, after the cats into 2 flowmaster 40 serious delta flow mufflers with pipes out the back, he loves it, presonally its not loud enough for my taste but it has a nice rumble when idle and sounds real good under acceleration too

I endorse using a local shop, that way you can get a warranty on the labor. I paid $200 for a Dynomax Turbo (SIDO), without chrome tips, exiting straight out the back.
I'm leaning toward the Local shop because they did a great job on a Cut-Out I had them put on a 98 Dakota once.
Another advantage is that you can go to the local guys if you have a problem, instead of dealing with a phone-based customer service dept. To me the cost savings is still the greatest advantage of getting it done locally. The prices I've seen online for cat-back systems (even at deep discount, still around $400-$500) that you have to install yourself just aren't worth it.
I had the Mag SS SIDO installed with pipes and chrome tips for $550 at a local chain muff shop. Very clean job and all welded. Whats with the 12gallon stock muffler Ford hung under these trucks? Seems like overkill in the size dept.
I talked to the Local Muffler Shop and I was qouted $280 for a single in dual out exhaust. Flowmaster 40 Series. And $360 for the same setup except true Dual. What do you guys think?
doesn't seem that bad to me....i am actually in the same stage as you....have gone around to the local muffler shops and was quoted 275 for a flowmaster SIDO system....so the prices that you are looking at dont seem bad
