Back to School?

Summer break isn't even half over yet, but I've been seeing back to school commercials on tv for a week already.

Yep. Another month and a half, Costco will have their Christmas stuff out one aisle over from a bunch of Halloween stuff.

It's the" Suggestive marketing concept" aka: competition for the almighty buck..... to see who can put their stuff out the earliest and have the edge over everyone else.

Yeah, I can understand that. But as a consumer, I find them highly annoying. As a child, I found them as a mockery. Like a "HA HA, YOU HAVE TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL!!!" But back then, there was only a weeks worth of commercial air time. Now, it looks like it's gonna be 5 or 6 weeks.

But on the other hand, with the Christmas stuff, I find it funny, and I actually do check it out.

being in retail for as long as i have it funy how things work, halloween goes out at end of august, winter clothes come in in july/august, thanksgiving end of sept,x-mas mid-end of oct.

all major retailers follow the same pattern plus or minus a week or so.

and having been involved inthis for many years/its one of the most stressfull and demanding jobs to have your layouts done along with all of your other responsibilites.

will never do it again in my life, have the credentials to become a store manager for kmart or walmert/not worth it for the 60-100k a year it would pay based on location/volume/experience/store.

hell no

I just walked through the local Target store and they have their big back to school section set up. I saw some kids walking around with their mom and when they saw the section you could see the look of disgust on their faces.

So what did i do? Pointed. Laughed, and said HA HA (imitating Nelson from the simpsons)

Just kidding i didn't, but it would have been funny......i might next time.

Not to worry...eventually the time frame segments will re-align and the magnetic vortex will once again flux itself into harmonious convergence. Maybe even Paris and Posh will party together like it's nineteen whatever. Too bad Lindsey won't make the scene. See how everything works out like it's supposed to?

Easy, stumpbuster. We don't want to hear about you on the 11 o'clock news. Sounds like it's time for a chill pill or a time out. Don't let this ruin your life. There are far more important things going on than irritating marketing schemes. You're among friends here. We can help, dude.

yea i know your right, i guess it just goes along with how else the world is going. my point is, i used to love the holidays, and now you become immune to the "spirit" by the time the day acually rolls around, from vendors pushing it all on you 1/4 of a year in advance. im not as crazy as my rants, i promise.

Whew! Good to know. Yes, I know what you mean. Too much exposure before it happens takes away from the real thing. Kinda like going on vacation. Leading up to vacation there's all the expectation of it, the planning, etc. You look forward it for a long time and when it actually happens, it turns out to be a lot of work and headaches. The traffic, crowds, spending so much money, having to adjust to complications, etc. Then when you get halfway through it, you start to get bummed cause you're thinking about having to go back to work. Then the long drive home, crowds, flat tire, kids screaming, no more money, etc. Fugetaboutit! Sorta like that.
