V6 INFO

Are there any V6 engines that can be bolted up to an small block V8 auto trans?? What bellhousing pattern does the 4.2 have?

i believe the 3.8 has the small block bolt pattern. the 4.2 is a stroker 3.8 and i believe the bell face is the same as well.

Don't know for sure, but I'd bet against. Ford discontinued the small block and replaced it with the 4.6 mod motor at the same time they introduced the 4.2. It only makes sense that the 4.2 would share bolt patterns with the 4.6, especially since all the current trannies have integral bellhousings. No reason to stock different parts if you don't have to.

Ben, the 3.8 that I have is from a thunderbird and has the small block pattern on the back. There are 3.8s from front wheel drives that have a different pattern. What a 4.2 has I have no idea. DF
