Replacing vacuum lines

I’ve decided to replace all of my vacuum lines. The old ones are cracked brittle or just plane missing. Is there anywhere that I could get a diagram of the vacuum system/lines to be sure which goes where? Also would you guys go with the standard black rubber hose or the colored silicon? Is the difference worth any price diferance?

There should be a vacuum diagram under the hood (sticker). If that is missing, I believe the Haynes / Chilton's or online manual @ autozone.com has the diagram. I don't think it will matter much what you use, as long as it's the right inner diameter and length. If you really want to get crazy with it, you can use some tubing and just use the rubber pieces where you need them to make the connections. I guess it's all personal preference.

Hi,

Here is a picture I took of my 1988, it should be the same. I haven't had time to compare it to my 1986 CD.

Personal pref. I suppose. The nice thing about the sil. is it lasts longer and you can seal it around the boot better (glue or RTV) if you have to. Replacing all the plastic Ts (are there any on the 86-90?) and boots are the important things along with the PCV grommet.

Yeah... I know eventually I'm going to have to replace all of mine, or at least all the deteriorated ones. I had to replace one for the EGR IIRC, and unfortunately only had the next size smaller vacuum hose on hand. It worked though... no more vacuum leaks that I can tell yet. I am probably going to replace all the vacuum lines when I get a chance in the near future, though.
