I've been pretty happy with my Firestone Destination M/Ts. Havent been stuck yet, but I havent been trying too hard either. Havent noticed much wear after 10K miles. The trick with M/Ts is to rotate more often than road tires. Its a pain, but I do it whenever I change the oil.

Maxxis buckshots
Any good?My cousin came down with a new set of buckshots on his 150(i mean nevecititas)they still had that blueish look.He said there pretty good and he likes em.They grip pretty good even in the clay. How do these last.Well there cheap so I don't really care about tread life with these. But i want more than my cousins opinion when im writin a $500 check.I would love to roll on some high quality tires but as you can now tell Im cheap.

Thanks

Firsestone destinations mts are some very good tires, and if taken care of you WILL get 50K (usefull) miles out of them(not bold as hell for the last 5-10K).
BUT they are pretty pricey(very close to the BFG), and their are two other tires I'd consider before the other two.

1) Dayton Timberline M/T = It looks just as good, performs the same, and last just as long, and it's alittle cheaper then the firestone.

2) Baja M/T( the full name isn't comeing to mind right now, but not Mickey Thomson), and they are just as good as the firestone or dayton, but they're even cheaper than the Daytons.

bigun72, I don't know where you came up with that statement, but a half worn TSL WILL pull better than a brand new mickey thomson Baja claw. The only thing good about those tires is, looks, and they're ok in sand.

mudslingur, maxxis buckshots are some decent tires. Everyone around me rounds them, so I'm sick of them, but they do pull pretty good, they are cheap, and they'll last 40k miles if you take GOOD care of them, but the last 5-10k will be useless off road.

The Baja M/Ts I mentioned earlier are very very close in price, and will last longer, and pull better, but not very many people carry them, so you might have to look. Either way, IF I were the one looking for a good 'Long lasting mud tire' it would be the Baja M/T (not to be confused with the Baja claws).

That's no joke! Like I said I haven't tried to get stuck either. Mud like that does require a heavy right foot. Last time I purposely played in the mud, I buried my old '77 F150 to the frame. That was not fun to get out!

MBBFord, When shopping for tires, just about every 10ply 235/85/16 tires are roughly the same price...give or take $20/tire. What sold me on the Firestones was the excellent mileage rating and the additional sidewall tread that most the other M/T dont have. That is a plus for me when turning on the slippery logging trails going after firewood.

Agreed! I love my Destination M/T's

I've got about 12,000 miles on mine, and can barely tell they have worn. Daily Driver during the week, and I get into the national forest trails and the mud on the weekends. I've had my truck sitting on the axles in a mudhole before, but about 3-4 minutes of rocking back and forth in 4-lo and I was out. They clean out great, and they even have a great warranty (free rotations whenever you want, if you get a flat they will fix it for free, if it can't be fixed, it's replaced and re-ballanced for free).

If I get 35K-40K miles out of these tires (looks like I will), then I will definately buy them again

That's a damn good warranty. The shop in my town only offers free rotation and balance. I used to work for that shop, and I've seen people come in with 50+K miles on a set they took care of.
