That doesn't seem right. Normally a hard drive is the last thing to get a power surge. It has to go through the power supply. Normally the power supply and motherboard are the ones to go. Peripherals are normally still good after unless the power supply really blew up.

Your pretty lucky it was the HD that went over the Mobo. Power supply is nothing to change, and not that bad for price, but a mobo might have cost ya something!
