Pretty much what tnt said lol. I have not had a problem with the water going down them gets a couple little black specs on the side sometimes but it okay, because when it rains here the roads become a mud bog basically so i have to wash it anyways.
I am thinking about 7" mitre stacks just dont know if I can justify to the wife having a custom built aluminum fuel tank built just to accomodate stacks....LOL
Yes! And the Ford has out lasted two Chevys. The one in the pic busted a piston in #8 hole last year and I had to tow it home. Last weekend we used another 04.5 LLY and it busted #4 piston. Had to unload but both made it home.
What happens when it rains with those mitres guys?
Having a white truck I probably notice it more. Its never to bad, just some spots on the rear sides of the bed and the top of the cab. Only once i wasnt really thinking and started my truck up after a few days of heavy ran and I automaticly rolled my drivers front window down. Unfortunitly there was a slight breeze towards the front of the truck and by the time I got going and backed down the drive way the top of my door panel and about 6inches in on the dash were covered with soot water.
if you put a VERY little hole at the lowest point..will the water leak out..but not cause any problems with the exhaust pressure and what not..make it sound funny or anything?
it seems to me there you can go with a cheaper lower section of the stacks its just a flex and belt welded pipes. the only part that would cost money is that stacks themselves. whats a good site to get the parts.
When i bought the truck I was planning on not putting stacks on, i liked my 8ft box. They grew on me to the point where i had to have them. I couldnt take it anymore, my buddy had a set of 5" turnouts i traded for an edge EZ. So i got the stacks put needed the piping. What I ended up doing was going to a big rig shop and getting 10' of 5" pipe, a 1.5' of flex, 3 90* 5" elbows, 5 band clamps, 3 u bolts. The trick is having someone who can weld, and has a band saw. We measured the 5" pipe, got it so it had 2" away from the bed. Then we cut it and made sure it was perfectly in place so that we could drill the hole in the bed for the 5" pipe to go down to the exhaust. Heres the tricky part, where your T would normally go(note the T is 100$ at least for a 5"), you make it. Its not hard to make, time consuming but not hard. You can figure the rest out on how to make the piping.
Now for the actual stacks, Ebay sometimes has them cheap. You want to call a place called Chrome Depot in Ohio, ask them how much for "seconds" seconds have minor blemishs in them. My 7's are seconds, and ill give anyone 10$ to find whats wrong with them. They even came with the 5" reducer welded on to it. My entire 7" mitres cost me around $500 to installed. $330 for the stacks themselves, and another 170$ worth of pipe and that other crap i mentioned earlier. Its much cheaper to just make that T yourself.
