Backfiring

What allowes for the backfiring noises you hear on mustangs and stuff? My true dual on my 460 is very very loud, but theres no loud backfiring noise which i die for! Would removing the cats help at all? Or is that something that is only common in high tuned engines or something? I have a 2 1/2 inch true dual, into cats, then super 44's, then h pipe

Try taking out the H pipe.
H and X pipes are for smoothing out the exhaust tone.
My truck would backfire before I put in an X pipe.

Okay if thats what would do it, then I would let that one go. I had a h-pipe just put it because it sounded shotty, and uneven, I was hoping to get the backfire with a nice even smooth sound to it. Without that h pipe, it was nasty. Thank you

if you want the backfires or popping sounds, try larger diameter pipes. A friend has a Dodge 1/2 ton with the smaller V8 and a gibson duel with huge tips and it pops like crazy when generous throttle is applied.

im running 22 inch maganflow tips that are 4 inchs wide, i think that shooda of done it, but i just gotta except this system, already cost me a leg and an arm
