Chassis? What years?

Getting ready to work on a new chassis for my '60 F100. I know '57 - '60 chassis will work, any other years? I've got a short bed, rusty frame and am getting ready to find one. Any help greatly appreciated.

You can do about anything.........I may be way off base, but I'm thinking there weren't too many chassis changes in the early slicks (61-64) from what the 60 had. You might try a search on this forum and the 61-66 forum - type in 'frame swap'

No the slick frames are different. I do have access to a 60 short. rusty cab and bed but the chassis is good. It's in San Diego.

I'd swap frames with:

Hey man, I do frame swaps all the time, and it's pretty easy. I have a 1961 Unibody, that I put on a 1985 Mercury Grand Marquis, it was a 2door, and even the wheelbase was perfect. The track width was the same and everything. The only thing that didn't work perfect was I had to put a tub in the bed for the frame kick up.If you didn't want to go that far you could use a Dodge Dakota early years had 5lug pattern(same as Ford)The width is pretty darn close. You just have to adjust the wheelbase, and make cab mounts. The good part about doin that is you can sit it as low as you want to, and you then have a modern chassis. The Dodge Dakota had JUNK rearends so you would need to change it out in favor of a 9inch Ford rear. The advantages would be you'd have power rack and pinion steering and disc brakes factory, with independent front suspension.I hope this helps, if you need more emal me at trucks1956@yahoo.com
GOD bless

Thanks for the input guys, any help greatly appreciated. I think I wanna stay with the '60 Chassis as I wanna kinda do the truck as a survivor. I realize the creature comforts and ease of dropping you'd get with a modern drivetrain...

cobraguy, I'm going to OKC in about 2 weeks, supposedly a salvage there that has about 7 of these, unsure of wheelbases yet. It'd be alot closer for me financially wise to get it there. But, if I don't find what I need I may get back with you and see what I can arrange about pickup...

Mainly wanting to see what years will fit without alot of mods. Once I get the frame then I'll start the lowering process. Think I'll just go with the 3" drop axle and check on perch flip... Then block the back.. We'll see...keep you guys posted.

Again thanks for the help guys... And thanks for the bump Fomoko1
