92 explorer won't start

92 Explorer Had no prior starting problems, Shut engine off one day, would not start again. Changed fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, checked fuel shut off switch and that was ok. Disconnected fuel line at filter, cranked engine but Fuel pump does not pump. Need more ideas! Grateful for any help.

Run a hot wire directly to the fuel pump to see if it runs. If it does, then you know the problem is between the ignition and the pump. Possibilites include the FP relay and the inertia switch. Use a test light at the inertia switch is see if you are getting juice. If not, then check the FP relay.

Thanks, can you tell me exactly how to do the hot wire? Already changed the fuel pump relay with no result. Is the inertia switch the same as the emergency shut off switch in the cab under the carpet on the passenger side?

Well, hate to say it but sounds like the pump. You know where it is right?

In the tank, not fun.
Good luck with the fix.

Have you checked to make sure you have power to the pump with the key turned on? Also, make sure that the plug/wire on the bottom of the inertia switch is secure.

Don't know if you have already solved your problem but I had just swapped out an engine on a 92 Explorer. After the swap, had the same symptoms. Turned over, had spark but no gas. My case, it was the inertia switch located inside on passenger side floor under the carpet. Just needed a reset, push of a button, and it fired right up.
