I had my Alpine head unit installed yesterday at Best Buy.Well, install dude asked who was installing my speakers.I told him I was because of the ease of doing it,esp. the fronts. He told me the whole door panel has to come off to install the fronts.I thought just the grill cover has to come off.......am I wrong?
another typical best buy liar. fronts no. back yes. and the back is real easy still. and don't buy stuff from best buy unless it's a deal you can't pass up on.
I just did this a couple of weeks ago in my 2004 SCAB. I put in a Pioneer DEHP6900 stereo, CD changer, Pioneer bluetooth module, and 4 new 6 X 8 speakers.
I'm assuming the fronts are the same on the 07 RCAB and my 04 SCAB, but it's pretty easy - just pop off the grill panel in the door, and the speakers are mounted with 4 screws (7/32" I think).
My rears were a little more involved but no big deal. There are some great posts here on how to do this if my simple explanation isn't enough.
Circuit City has the Kicker KS series speakers on sale; buy one pair get the second pair 50% off! This sale ends today.
Anyway,I removed the front door speaker covers in less then 10 seconds! I have yet to attemp my rear access door panel removal. It looks like there is a bolt on the very bottom to be removed then just pry the panel off;am I correct?

Yes...correct...
Since I've replaced my rears about a dozen or so times... I suggest finding a long blade type screwdriver (12" or so) and throw some tape on it. It will help to "click" the metal tabs holding the panel on. I would also start up around the window opening (closest to the rear-door latch)...slowly pick the edge up w/ a plastic putty knife and use the screwdriver in releasing the tabs... and work your way around.
On edit: the hinge side (around the window) will have a clip or two a lit'l ways in from the edge so you may want to look for that.

I put in Infinity Kappa's in the fronts. They sound good but with my factory head unit I nead an amp. I had to tell the kid at Circuit City he only had to remove the panel's, of course it was after I found him taking apart my door!
I have Pioneers in front and Kickers in back, put it in like a week ago and am very happy about it. I also put tweeters in and would highly recommend that to everyone. I still have the factory radio but that will be replaced soon.
