well my 2000 F-150 is still a slow project... roll pan is welded in, box is painted, tailgate has been shaved and painted, bedliner has been sprayed in, fenders have been shaved and painted (not on the truck yet) hood is also painted and not on yet. front bumper, i sanded the rough plastic smooth and painted it all black (not on either...) billet alluminum grill is in the newly painted grill shell. id like to save up a little more cash and pick up some new headlights/signal lights before i put it together...
i hit a dear with my beater car and sgi wrote it off, so that money i used to order a 7.5" lift from Fab-Tech Motorsports, still looking for some sort of ladder bar system cuz a 5" block for the rear end kinda scares me a bit lol
while im lifting the truck im gonna swap in my 1978 9" rear end with 4:11's and posi
Just if you swap in that axle then you loose your ABS. Without ABS you loose your cruise, instrument cluster and the engine may not run right either since it no longer has a speed sensor. To me it would be more trouble than it's worth.
really? i only thought i would loose the ABS, which is no big deal to me... but i always thought the speed sensor was in the transmission? why would the cruise not work? because the ABS? or because the speed sensor?
The speed sensor in the differential tells the ABS the speed. The ABS then sends that signal to the instrument cluster which displays your speed. Cruise also gets it's speed signal from the ABS. I know if the ABS light comes on you will loose cruise control.
Ford quit putting the speed sensor in the transmission in 92 on 2WDs (trucks). I don't know what year the 4x4's were changed.
I looked into adapting cruise control from a 93 F-350 for my truck since it was totally electronic but it won't work without the ABS module and instrument cluster. The older vacuum system would work for me but it is a 3 part system unlike the newer 1 piece unit.
I guess if you want to test to see if it will work without the speed sensor, unplug it from the differential and see what still works.

well i kinda figured it would be a cake walk for the 4.2L with 4:11's and 35" tires... but if it doesnt work out then i garuntee it will be dawgin it, so might have to save up cash to do up the axle already in the truck hmmmm
and yeah it reffers to my probe.. ive had pics on here before but i always get bad pm's cuz its not a truck lol there is a glimps of it in my 2000 F-150 gallery tho
