I have a 07 F150 crewcab 4x4 lariat.I traded in my 03 crewcab fx4 for this new truck. Now dont get me wrong i love the new truck option and design.I have the new Ford 20inch wheels with lowprofile tires (now that makes no sense for a big 4x4 with the low profile tire like that).I just added a ready lift kit (2.5 leveling kit)to the front to level the truck out looks great..
Well iam now getting to my question,i wanted to know if all 040to now F150 have the electronic throttle thing now,or is anyone haveing or had trbl with it.I just cant stand the delay on the gas peddle.I drive about 70miles a day,and 68miles is intersate miles, and i can be driving around 65 or 70 and go to pass a car hit the gas peddle to the floor and its like the truck waits to approve my response. And even when iam at a dead stop hit the gas to floor to feel the power and it takes for ever for the truck to get up and go but when it does it goes man but it like a delay on a turbo charger...Just wanted to know if this was normal or is there something i can do to fix this like a upgrade or something,or is something wrong with my truck,I just wish the trottle cable was still there....
Thats about how I would describe my '06 when I bought it - felt powerfull just not resposive. I bought an Edge tuner and have not had a single complaint since. 45000 miles later I still love it. Absolutely woke up my truck!
The pedal shouldn't take that long. They do use adaptive learning so if you want to try yourself disconnect the battery for 5 minutes if that doesnt help take it to the dealer for a diag. Likely a reflash or a new switch. If it is a new FFV 5.4 you have no fuel pump, a fuel module due to corrosive nature of E85. But still it should not have "dead pedal". As Shootin says the edge does wake it up. However engine damage will occur if you fail to use Premium (92 octane) on level 3 extreme
With the adaptive DBW it takes a while to "learn" your driving style. I have to be careful with how hard I hit the gas now as the first little bit of travel really launches the truck hard, and I drive with a light foot. It really seemed to change after it had 4k miles on it. It downshifts with no hesitation at all now, and my fuel economy is still improving despite running the A/C constantly because of the hot weather.
Do a search, there is a way to reset just the peddel. Did it on mine and cleared up the hesitation. Seems like you turn key to on but don't start it, push peddel down all the way then key to off? Been awhile, also as stated it will learn your driving style. And you will learn how the truck's electronic throttle can be a good thing. Took a little time to get use to, but I love the way the truck's throttle respones.
I've had this problem on my '04 since new. This was a huge topic of discussion on this forum back then with only slight improvements from Ford with software upgrades. I had my last update today (warranty out next week) and it helped a little but there is still a delay.
Try this; quickly press the pedal to the floor and release it and see how far the rpms climb. Before the reflash today, mine would only go up to about 1200 but now it climbs to about 1800. Nothing like the old linkage systems but a little better. My wife's G35 coupe has electronic throttle and there is no perceptible delay so it must be Ford's rendition of the system.....
Hey thanks for all the ideas.I going to try every one of them,i just want the delay gone, you know when i hit the pedal i want the truck to go not wait and think about it.I want it like big blu (my old 78 4x4 351m-and all the upgrades so when i it the pedal to the floor the gas pedal drops and you neck gets snap into and its like taken off in a rocket ship). But hey i will live with it if i have to bc you couldnt pay me to drive another make or model, iam true BLUE.(ONLY BUY AND DRIVE THE BIG DOG DADDY OF ALL TRUCKS FORD -TRUCKS)
oh,i forgot to reply:but i have had my truck about 7mths (10,579 miles on it)and yes Blackstock it is the flex fuel option on my truck (3-valve 5.4) but i have never ran anything but reg gas in my truck. The trucks have great power its just eases into the power..Hey one more thing has any of you experience this with your trucks,be driving lets say 55-60 (and truck is total in cruiseing mode now keep that in mind) just driving along and hit a bump in the road and like your foot can barely if any tap the pedal and truck down shift. For example on the main road going to my house its like a mile and 1/2 straight away and there is a small bump and its all the way across the road and dead in the middle of the straight way but every time i drive over that bump my truck down shifts.I thought it was my foot maybe moving, but i dont believe so it did it to my dad also when he was driving. The pedal is real sensative aguess
I've had the same thing happen with bumps. If it causes your foot to move relative to the floor of the truck, it will cause it to downshift. There's one bump on a road I travel almost every day that does that to me. I just back off the gas just before I hit it. It's on an uphill section of road, so the truck is close to downshifting already, that slight movement of the pedal is enough.
On the good side, the cruise control engagement is seamless with the DBW, no dropping a couple of MPH's and then accelerating to the set speed if you're not carefull when you let off the gas when engaging it. Screws me up everytime I drive our Ranger after being in the F150.
Rememeber the DBW in the F150 is totally different from a g35 or 350z or anything else. It's a truck designed for rough terrain- the DBW is supposed to keep your foot from causing drastic speed changes/shifts when you hit bumps. Ever try driving an old 5.0 f150 4x4 MANUAL off road? you can't keep a steady speed at all. Every time it bumps your foot grabs throttle, and that makes the ride twice as bad. I'll take my DBW any day. I'm not in it for a drag race, but If i see a 'yota on the road, I'll just hit my pedal a second or two early =)
I had the same problem. 1-3 second delay when hitting the gas. The dealer replaced the tranny pump and throttle body and it seems to have gone away. I'm not sure if they reflased the computer but they did reset it so that may have helped too.
