My temp control **** has taken a crap. When you turn it, it just spins and does not adjust the actual temp from cold to hot. I am looking to find out what is involved in the replacement of this item. Cost and what it is called so I can ask for the right part when I go to the auto parts store.
Have you pulled the **** off to see if the shaft turns and turns and turns and turns......?? I mean is the **** broken or the control? Either way it's a dealer item, or salvage yard.
I had the same problem in my 99 and when I took the **** off I could easily see where it was cracked so I stuck a small slot screwdriver into the shaft hole just enough to spread it a bit and then put a drop of Krazy Glue into each crack. After that I lightly clamped the cracks back together with needle-nosed vise-grips for about 5 minutes (overkill) and then put the **** back on and it works like new...YMMV.
