Thanks 82F100SWB, I will scrap the header conversion and go for the "Y" pipe modification or replacement, I was surprised to find the Napa part. From the pictures it look like it is much better flowing than stock.

KJLYPW can show you a set installed on an IDI - that's what they were designed for. I've actually met and spoken with Stan the man himself - his shop is about 1-2 miles from my house.

On that 20 PSI boost monster you have planned, I hope that's including milled pistons, head studs, and a few other goodies to make the IDI head gaskets hold up to that kind of pressure. Something like what Dave Sponaugle did to his

Thanks for all of your help and insite, I will post with any good information (mileage etc)
Yeah, it looks a little better than stock, and the price looks pretty good, but there are 4 things about it that aren't as good as a true "roll yer own" Y-pipe....
1) the pipes are only 2-1/4"
2) the bends are the "wrinkle" type that reduce the pipe ID everywhere there is a bend
3) the passenger side pipe is still joined right into the side of the one coming from the driver's side - instead of the two flowing paralell into 1, and
4) the pipe after the two pipes join isn't any bigger than the ones from the manifolds

Did ya take a look at my gallery? What I did would be really easy to do by cutting up a stock Y-pipe and a few elbow pieces from Napa....

Even the headers exit 2 1/2 inch, but they do give each cylinder a better evacuation path to the outlet, when I took off my stock exhaust manifold, it really doesn't appear to be too restricive. I think the stock 2 1/4 on the 6.9 and 2 1/2 on the 7.3 exhaust systems was mainly for noise restriction, just stiffeled power as a side benefit! HA.

Right out my headers I installed a 2 1/2 to 3" adapter, then bought mandrel bent 3" elbows and such to fabricate a crossover pipe, then built a Y and straight into a full flow through 4" back exhaust system that is out of NAPA for a 94- 97 powerstroke. Sounds awsome when I tromp on it and is VERY responsive compaired to stock. On a dyno run however the actuall HP at the rear wheels was 130 = 185+/- at the flywheel.
I do believe however with the improved airflow I could turn up the fuel to see some actual measured HP gains. I would seriously look at just going with the bigger exhaust right up to the stock manifolds if I were doing it all over again, but what the heck, the headers look and sound pretty good, and at 50 years old and kids gone its about time to treat myself to some fun heh!

Thanks guys, I agree with CheaperJeeper about the Napa pipe, it would need work also, I have looked at your gallery, that is where I got the idea from!
KJLYPW I think I will try the 2 1/2 to 3" adapter right out of the manifold to a good "Y" pipe and hope my skills are up to my planning.
