Heater core

How difficult is it to replace a heater core in a 95 F-150 XL. Does it require discharging the A/C?

20 minutes tops.

no discharge needed.

BTW... the core is accessed from inside the cab behind the glove box.

open glove box so it hangs down, remove the plate you see, 7 screws, go to hoses and mark and remove them, put towel on carpet and remove core. reverse sequence.

The reason I ask is.. guess what I just got?

With $3/gallon gas, a lot of pollution, and what seemed like some burned exhaust valves, I decided to sell my 71 F-100 to the good people of California thru the voluntary vehicle retirement program and got myself a 95 F-150 XL.

But the guy I bought it from said the heater was leaking but not in the cab so he has the heater core bypassed. I don't know if it's actually the core.

the heater core is going to be the problem.

Only, no sane person would pay $650 for an old worn out truck with three or four burned exhaust valves....
