Greetings. New here. I posted this over in the tranny section also.

I wonder if I can be directed to a pile of info about rebuilding a M5OD r2 (m5r2, etc). I have a 92, 2wd, stndard cab, long bed, 300 6I, F150. The tranny ground to a halt the other night on the freeway. definitely busted. i found another tranny out of a 92. It probably works just fine. While it is out though I think I should rebuild it. Unlike some other posters I read, money is an issue. Very quickly the rebuild here in Anchorage would be 2200 bucks. The price of another f150.

So, I'm confident I can rebuild it, with the help of some friends, but I want to find as much info as possible.

I heard Ford has a shop manual in pdf that can be downloaded. If not from Ford, does it exist elsewhere? I have Chiltons covering 87 to 96. Also Ludels F-Series owners Bible (not helpful concerning mazda tranny rebuild). I've found some stuff on Google but the most extensive one is for a Thunderbird and I believe it is a M5R1.

Where would you suggest I buy a rebuild kit? Drivetrain's site?

I have another 96 f150 so I can go slow, do the learning curve and get it right. I also have the busted tranny and the working one. Any info I can be steered to would be appreciated.

Is there a section, FAQ, Forum that I've missed on this group? Thanks!
