I bought a set of cab lights gonna install.Anyone know if I can add these 5 lites to the existing lighting circuit so they come on when my regular lites are on or would it be better to use seperate circuit. Thanks, Bill
ill be watching this thread.. i am planing on putting cab lights in mine as well. i dont think you will have a problem with running the cab lights on the same lighting circuit as everything else. shouldnt over load it. i think i heard somewere that after 00 (i may be wrong) that every superduty was prewired for cab lights.
Mudracin74- Im shootin for this weekend to install them .Ill post after that. Im also gonna try to post some pics if I can figure out how to do that. Good Luck, Bill
piece of cake installation. the hardest part........drilling the holes for the harnesses. not hard, just kinda scary knowing you're drilling five holes in your roof. the harness should be there, mine was, and it's an '02. use template, and drill away. i used one of those mulit sized bits, and slowly stepped it up to the correct size. there's a link somewhere that explains better, but i'd have to search for it. i got the light kit and the smoked lenses by recon off ebay. the smoked lenses with the amber bulbs looks pretty sweet. it came with the hyper white bulbs too, but i prefer the amber.
Since you have a 2002 the harness plug should already be in the passenger side kick panel. When I had my 1999 v-10(which had the connector in the kick panel), I bought and installed the cab lights. I also bought the factory harness that went from the lights to the kick panel connector. Should be a simple plug-in-play. Sideshow is right about the drilling portion of it, I didn't use a template. I must have measured about a dozen times before I drilled anything. One tip I do recommend is to use a dry erase marker, it wipes off easy if you measure wrong.
I added cab lights to mine right after I bought it. It is a 02 model, had it for 3 1/2 years now. the wire was already up in the roof. One word of advice, Use silicone on both sides on your gasket to prevent leaks and to protect the paint from crosion. I work building Fire Trucks so I know A few secrets.
