box lengths 6',7',8'?

I may be out to lunch on this but I was thinking
short bed is 6'
crew cab box is 7'
long bed is 8'

Is the crewcab bed 7'?

6 3/8 or 8'. Only two bed lengths were offered.

How is the length measured?

I went and measured mine up and the floor of the bed was just over 6'10" and outside front to outside of the tailgate is basically 7'.

I think all short beds are actually 6 3/4' which is pretty close to the 6'10" that you measured.
edit: Also the stepside beds are 6 1/2'.

Inside walls of the bed IIRC.
