88f250 idels hot
I have an 88 f250 460 fi bored 30 over ex cab 4x4 it runs perfect down the road loaded or not however when ideling for more than 5 minuts it climes to 230,rev engine doesnt matter new 3 row rad, clutch fan seems to be working thermostat is good (several to be sure)when get rolling again it drops in about 2 miles to 180 just pops up at idle -after looking at other posts and electric fans not sure what to do it seems to me the electric fan will solve idle temp as im not concerned for power or mileage,just temp- oh i havent let it stay there long because i was always close to a water hose and cooled it down before it rose any farther so i dont know if it would get hotter or maintain 230 any thought would be appreciated --thanks in advance

i remember i always had overheating problems with my f150. i rebuilt the engine from the heads up (and swapped out the cylinder heads) and it ran great. the problem was a cracked cylinder head with a bunch of messed up vaulve seats (the truck was also missing real bad) but i doubt this is whats wrong with yours.
i do know my 88 f150 has an idle air valve on it and with that thing going bad it causes problems.
off timing may cause overheating.
i would flush out your cooling system too.
